Error Reports
I have looked at my blog from the user side and its not what I saved or published…I e-mailed tech support and they are looking into it…many of the grammar errors can not be edited or saved for some reason but I can create new blog enteries. I will fix these errors as soon as tech support fixes what ever issues that are keeping me from saving my blog entries and this is why it is important to have rough drafts, 2nd rough drafts, and final drafts
Tasten-N-Racen 2009
Hydro racing was not my scene, “It does not interest me” I used to say.
I never tried to understand any of it, but I made my first appearance
at the 2009 APBA coordinated event “Tasten-N-Racen” in Issiquah, WA.
Tasten-N-Racen was a two day event featuring in short small boats, big boats, huge boats, loud turbine boats, and all boats in between. Vendors, hundreds of guests, and over 70 boats, take part in the annual event with each year attracting more and more attention.
Day 1 of the 2009 event I followed the lead of freelance photographer Julie Sparrowgrove, as I had never been to a hydro race before. I learned quickly what Julie loved about the races. I also heard a sound my speed favoring ears related to SPEED TV’s Pinks; The sound was made by the turbine engine of Albert Lee (U-48) Driver Brian Perkins, who I saw navigate the left corner as a rooster tail chased the driver around the track. There is something for everyone at these race events, It just takes time to figure out how and why to love hydro racing.
On the second day of the event I noticed it featured a car show but I missed it in writing this review of the event which was fun to write just as it was to watch. Today June 7th I stayed all day watching races getting to see my first hydro plane crash and I sought out for information trying to figure out what happened exactly since I missed it. Although I did not get any information that would point to the source of the crash, I was left with more questions. Who, What, Why was all I could think about after the interviews of which some crew members of both sides gave me a time when the two boats might be fixed, but I think 4 to 6 weeks is pushing it. I am no expert so I wouldn’t know for sure. The event was my first and it was exciting. There is not much I can say about this event but the fact that it was well organized and a lot of fun. Even though I didn’t cruse through the vendors booth. Next year I will try and make my way around to each vendor as Tasten-N-Racen has forever left a good first impression on me including everyone else who experienced the same things as I have at this APBA event.

Crusin For Hope 2009
Crusin for hope was created by community leaders and friends to make a difference in the life’s of young people fighting illness. This year was the second annual Crusin For Hope event of which the focus family was the Wischnofske’s. I spent a few minutes with the family as the father of Chance Wischnofske expressed how abnormal it was for him to be as open to the event as he was. “He is normally shy” Mr. Wischnofske said. The event was a good one, mostly because of the cars & boats but I can say for sure that I did have fun. Hopp Racing brought their UL-1 Unlimited Light Hydro Plane boat out in support for the event dry firing it for the crowd that gathered around the large boat.
The first day of the event I decided I would check out the car show. Reaching the top of the hill I heard music so sweet I felt the ground rumble beneath me. Many classic cars and modern cars entered the car show, but not vary many imports which is good for the economy I guess, unfortunately its too late though as GM is already bankrupt.
I was surprised to see the focus family’s three kids Chance, Charish, And Chase in a Ferrari of which I spent more time admiring while talking some more with Mr. Wischnofske. Day 1 was filled with more activities but it seems that if the race does not attract people the high speed crash’s do. In my opinion I guessed who might have caused the crash, but I’m always missing them, so I could not verify what really happened during this specific chain of events because the races are just too extreme to go around pointing the finger making claims. The only thing that counts is winning and having fun, so in my opinion the incident was mirly an accident of which no one was at fault”.
Not everyone can win or go home without finishing a race they started, but complements to Jason Seather the driver of R64 whom lost “the all spark” (as Transformer movie goers would say) in his engine. Never giving up the crew and driver desperately attempted to revive the engine a dozen or more times finaly giving it one last try as the engine started up. Jason drove off catching up with the other racers to begin competing for the gold, but unfortunately he finished in 4th place saying “I’ll Keep Tryin” when interviewed. I did not let emotions or complements leave my mouth during these two days but if there are any talented boat drivers out there you will most likely find them at a hydro racing event.
